Pigmentation

Pigmentation – What is it?

Uneven , dull skin tone and excessive pigmentation give the skin an aged appearance. Getting rid of pigmentation can be a reality, and with the right equipment and experienced hands here at The Aesthetic Loft, rest assured that you will be well taken care of.

Not all pigmentation are the same though, and each will respond differently to treatments, and therefore require a different treatment plan or topical therapies.

Hyperpigmentation

A general term to connotate excessive pigment production,
hyperpigmentation exists in many forms, each with their own physiology.
These include :

  • Melasma
  • Freckles
  • Sun or age spots (Lentigo)
  • Hori’s Nevus/Nevus of Ota
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Keratoses
  • Birthmarks

Seborrheic Keratosis

These lesions result from excessive pigment production or deposition in the skin, but the underlying cause for this varies from condition to condition. Some can be hereditary, hormonally related, or due to accumulation of damage from aging and UV exposure.

Most importantly, many of these lesions can co-exist, with several types of pigmentation appearing on the same face or body. Accurate diagnosis by an experienced doctor is essential to achieving optimal results and reducing side effects.
